Extended School Year Services

  • Extended School Year Services (ESY)

Early Childhood Special Education follows the School District’s Calendar and is not in session during the summer.  For our students who demonstrate regression and require an extended time to recoup  previously learned skills, Extended School Year (ESY) services are available.  Students are found eligible for ESY through data collected by IEP teams when they return from extended breaks (i.e. winter break, summer break, spring break and long weekends).  ESY services are based on documented regression of IEP goals and reflect services to maintain learned skills over the summer.  In some instances, predicted regression can be used as an eligibility determination factor if new skills  or technology has just  been introduced.

    ECSE Services

    • Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) offers a variety of services through a child's Individualized Education Program (IEP).  Services may look different for each child and are determined on an individual basis.
