“Life truly goes faster than you could ever expect. Don’t get so caught up in your future that you don’t pay attention to the present.”

Mallory Cappel (Totten), Class of 2020
Current Role: Cosmetologist at Hairstyles Etc.
(After high school she went straight to cosmetology school and immediately began working in the field.)
Favorite High School Activity: Jaywalkers
Most Influential Blue Jay Staff Member(s): Kim Fields — “She still impacts my life to this day!”
Favorite Blue Jay Memory:
Dancing during football games — especially Friday Night Lights. “I loved FNL!”
Advice to My High School Self:
“Keep working hard, and never doubt yourself. You are worth more than you think.”

Stacie Hopkins Class of 1992
Current Role: Cosmetologist / Salon Owner
Favorite High School Activities: Jaywalkers
Most Influential Blue Jay Staff Member(s): I was pretty shy growing up and often felt overlooked as a result of that. Mr. Hibbs remembered my name and even gave me a nickname and made me feel seen and not like just another student.
Advice to My High School Self: “Stop worrying about what others think and just be you! Enjoy these years — they go by fast!”

Mychelle McGlynn (Class of 2001)
Current Role: Mychelle McGlynn’s journey led her from the salon to the classroom. After becoming a licensed cosmetologist, she earned degrees in physical therapy and elementary education. She now teaches 2nd grade at Webster Elementary.
Favorite High School Activities: Cheering at State Basketball her sophomore year.
