Marshfield R-I Schools Hosts Successful 2025 Invitational
Marshfield R-I Schools is proud to share that the 2025 Marshfield Invitational was a great success, thanks to the many students, staff, families, and guests who helped make the event possible.
This year, Marshfield welcomed 21 schools from across the region for a full weekend of academic competition. Participants, coaches, and volunteers filled our campus with energy, camaraderie, and a shared commitment to excellence.
We are especially proud of the 16 junior high students who joined the high school team to assist with hosting duties. From helping manage rooms to supporting judges and teams, these students demonstrated outstanding leadership, responsibility, and Blue Jay pride.
Marshfield R-I Schools extends a sincere thank-you to everyone who attended, judged, volunteered, or worked behind the scenes. Your support helped create a positive, well-run event and a memorable experience for all involved.

Our FFA chapter enjoyed an exciting and eventful week, highlighted by two outstanding opportunities for students to learn, connect, and celebrate their passion for agriculture.
The week began with the Webster County Cattlemen’s Association Career Fair, where our students—along with members from several surrounding chapters—were able to meet ag professionals, explore diverse career pathways, and gain valuable insight into the future of the agriculture industry. Events like this help our students grow, discover their strengths, and build meaningful relationships within our local ag community. We are incredibly grateful to the Cattlemen’s Association for investing in the next generation of ag leaders.
The celebration continued at the FFA Barnwarming held at the Webster County Fairgrounds. Our officers did an exceptional job organizing a fun and memorable evening filled with dancing, games, and friendly competition. Students participated in Ag Olympics events, a truck pull, minute-to-win-it challenges, a bale flip, and the beloved Monkey Suit tradition that has entertained FFA members for more than 20 years. The night was packed with laughter, teamwork, and moments that students will remember for a lifetime.

Thank you to everyone who came out to the Basketball Jamboree and contributed to our food drive! Because of your generosity, nearly 1,000 cans of food are now headed to our local Blessing Boxes and the Food Pantry.
Your support makes a real difference for families in our community. Your donations help stock shelves, fill needs, and remind our neighbors that Blue Jays take care of each other.
Marshfield High School presented its fall theatre production, Into the Woods—a beloved Broadway classic featuring the unforgettable music and lyrics of Stephen Sondheim. This year’s cast and crew worked tirelessly to bring this magical story to life on the MHS stage.

They also toured the famous Tabasco Factory on Avery Island and explored Jungle Gardens — talk about a full day of learning and fun! So many miles, memories, and new experiences.

All Ag Science I students write an essay as part of our leadership unit, but these members took it a step further by refining, memorizing, and presenting their speeches in competition. They showed real initiative and growth — we are proud of their hard work!

Mid-Missouri Ag Ed Initiative
Recently, these Blue Jays had an incredible hands-on experience at the Mid-Missouri Ag Ed Initiative. The day began with educational rotations focused on feeder cattle grading, animal products, beef reproduction, palpating and aging cows, and the business side of the beef industry—including the vital role stockyards play in the process.
Afterward, students were paired with industry professionals and cattle buyers who guided them through the process of being a Stocker Cattle buyer. Each student was given a $3,500 budget to spend during a live auction, where nearly 100 head of cattle ran through the ring. Students had to make quick, strategic decisions to determine which purchases would yield the highest profit.
Their hard work paid off—Marshfield earned 1st place among schools in attendance, achieving the highest average profit per head!
A huge thank-you to all of the organizers, sponsors, and industry partners who made this valuable real-world learning opportunity possible.

“Bandtastic” week for the Blue Jay Band!

Real-World Learning at the Mid-Missouri Stockyards
Students from our Animal Science and Ag Business classes are preparing for a unique hands-on learning experience at the Mid-Missouri Stockyards.
Through a program created by Josh Arl of Mid Missouri Bank, high school agricultural students will have the opportunity to act as cattle buyers for a Beef Stocker/Backgrounding Operation. During the event, cattle will enter the sale ring just like a real auction. Each student will receive a set budget and will work alongside industry professionals who will mentor them through the bidding process.
More than 200 students from surrounding agricultural programs are expected to participate in this exciting, real-world simulation.
To get ready for the event, representatives from Mid Missouri Bank and the Mid-Missouri Stockyards visited our classrooms to provide background on the program, explain the budgeting tools students will use, and even give a crash course in auctioneering.
This authentic learning experience connects classroom lessons to real-life applications in the agriculture industry—helping students gain valuable insight, confidence, and career readiness.

Our FFA Officers had a fun night at Big Shots—because in Marshfield, we’re all kind of Big Shots! A great evening of team bonding and memories.

Blue Jay Legacy Honored
Recently, H was inducted into the Speech and Theatre Association of Missouri (STAM) Hall of Fame! And let’s be honest—if you’re easily recognized by just one letter, you’re kind of a big deal.
The moment was made even more special as Blue Jay alumna, former debater, and current debate coach Chasity Hance had the honor of presenting the award to him alongside Mrs. Tobin from Willard.
A proud night for Blue Jays past and present!

Unified Champions in Action!
Executive Council students teamed up with Mr. Ahlquist’s class to attend a Special Olympics Bocce Tournament hosted by Ozark High School. In this Unified Partner event, each Executive Council student was paired with a Special Olympics athlete to compete side by side as a team.
The result? Teamwork, smiles, and medals for every pair! We are so proud of their effort, sportsmanship, and Blue Jay spirit.

We’re proud to see these students stepping into the workforce with confidence and enthusiasm!

An Amazing First Day at MHS!

Here’s to a year full of learning, growth, and unforgettable memories!

Our High School Custodians are Awesome!
Yesterday, after building new racks and unboxing weights, the weight room was left covered in boxes. I came in early this morning planning to clean everything up—only to find the room spotless!
Our custodians had already taken care of it without being asked.
This is just one of the many ways they go above and beyond for our students and staff. Their hard work and pride in our schools are a true example of what it means to be Made in Marshfield.
Thank you, custodians—we appreciate you!
Congratulations to Our American FFA Degree Recipients!
Congratulations to Hannah Davis, John Dennis, Camryn Elliott, Remington Floyd, Randie Hearod, ShaeLynn Masters, Jacob Minton, Rainy Pickel, Bradley Pruitt, Jazmen Vinyard, and Gavin Wipf for earning their American FFA Degrees!
The American FFA Degree is the highest honor the National FFA Organization bestows, with less than one percent of members achieving this distinction. These outstanding Marshfield FFA members will be recognized this November at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, where Missouri once again claimed the title of most American Degrees awarded.
We are proud of their dedication, hard work, and commitment to excellence—job well done!

Blue Jay Band Members Stay Busy This Summer—Now in Cool New Digs!
Blue Jay band members have stayed busy this summer, putting in hours of hard work at band camp—and this year, they did it in style. Students were able to spend a portion of camp in the brand-new, climate-controlled multipurpose safe room at the East Campus, giving students a break from the heat and a perfect space to focus on music and marching.
The new facility provided plenty of room to rehearse and stay energized, all while staying cool and comfortable. Band members made the most of the upgraded space, preparing for an exciting season of performances, football games, and competitions.
Whether learning drills or fine-tuning their sound, these students are marching into the new year with pride—and a strong start. Go Jays!

Blue Jay Cheerleaders Complete Choreography Camp!
The Blue Jay cheerleaders just wrapped up a high-energy choreography camp—and they crushed it! Recently the team worked hard to learn and perfect new routines that they’ll debut this season at games and pep rallies.
Their dedication, teamwork, and Blue Jay spirit were on full display as they mastered stunts, chants, and sideline choreography. We’re proud of their effort and can’t wait to watch them lead the crowd and support our teams all year long!
Way to go, Cheer—your hard work is already shining through!

SAE Grant Spotlight: Archer Hoefer
Marshfield FFA’s Booster Club SAE Grant program is helping young members launch hands-on ag projects—and Archer Hoefer is a shining example!
Archer started a meat rabbit SAE to explore sustainable food production in small spaces. He raises his rabbits under an old carport and feeds them with forage crops he grows himself. With his grant, he improved genetics and lowered feed costs, and he’s even considering entering livestock shows.
Great job, Archer! We’re excited to see what’s next.

SAE Spotlight: Taylor Cox
Taylor Cox, a soon-to-be junior, has grown a thriving SAE project from the ground up—literally! She raises and sells starter plants, including vegetables and herbs, to customers around the area.
She began growing in her bedroom during winter and now manages a greenhouse… complete with a fence to keep her curious goat from snacking on her profits!
Leftover plants will go into raised beds, where Taylor plans to sell the produce. She’s always looking for new customers and can grow specific plants on request.
Great job, Taylor—keep up the awesome work (and keep that goat out of the greenhouse)!

Congrats to Max Rost!
Max Rost earned Division 2 Reserve Champion in the Owned Female Show at the Limousin Jr. National Show with MINO Mardi Gras 209M ET.
We’re proud of all the hard work he’s put into this achievement—way to go, Max!

FFA Students Shine at Webster County Market Show & Sale
It was a big day for Marshfield FFA members Maddie Essary, Gracie Essary, and Princeton Jordan at the Webster County Market Show and Sale!
After purchasing market lambs at weaning earlier this year, these students spent months halter-breaking, feeding, and raising them to market weight. Their hard work paid off—all three made the premium sale, which allows them to retain ownership of their lambs while still earning a payout.
Special thanks to Briar Day for guiding and supporting them along the way.
Next up: the Laclede County Market Sale in just a few weeks. Great job, Blue Jays!

Blue Jay Wrestlers Complete Intensive Camp in Branson
Marshfield Wrestling wrapped up 14 hours of intense training today at a summer camp in Branson—bringing home more than just sore muscles.
Over the course of the camp, student-athletes focused on sharpening their technique, drilling fundamentals, and gaining valuable live match experience. In addition to physical training, the camp also included sessions on mental toughness, goal-setting, motivation, and the mindset it takes to succeed on and off the mat.
Coaches were proud of the team’s hard work, focus, and willingness to push themselves throughout the camp.

Marshfield’s Annual Blue Jay Service Day for Athletics was once again a powerful reminder of the impact student-athletes can make beyond the field.
Dressed in Blue Jay gear and ready to serve, teams took to the community to complete a wide variety of service projects—from pulling weeds and painting curbs to cleaning public spaces and lending a hand wherever needed.
This special tradition emphasizes the values of leadership, teamwork, and community pride. It’s a chance for our athletes to give back to the town that cheers them on all season long.
If you happened to spot these hardworking students out and about, we hope you gave them a honk or wave in appreciation. We’re proud of their effort, their example, and their heart for service.

MHS Speech & Debate
Owen has advanced to the first elimination round in Impromptu Speaking!
This national event began with over 600 entries, and now only about 200 remain—and Owen is one of them!

SAE Spotlight: Gracie Essary
Gracie Essary has been busy—working at Grillo’s and showing horses with her family. She recently placed 2nd in the youth model at the Ava Missouri Fox Trotter Show and will serve as this year’s FFA Vice President!

During Summer School, students visited State Fair Community College in Sedalia and were impressed by the programs, amenities, and welcoming campus—SFCC is now on the short list for several students! As an A+ college, it's a great option.
They also made an informal stop at the University of Central Missouri, exploring campus and enjoying lunch in downtown Warrensburg. Even without a guided tour, students got a great feel for the UCM experience.

Congratulations Marshfield Baseball 2025 Class 5 4th Place team!
